The Oswego Figure Skating Club is proud authorize these professionals for teaching on club ice. They represent some of the finest skaters and teachers in Central New York. Please contact the club's Pro Liason with questions or comments and for direct contact information.

Peggy Bateman

This is Peggy's 16th year teaching skating & her 13th year with he Oswego FSC. She has been coaching synchronized skating since 1989. She has passed through her silver dances, juvenile freestyle, & 1st figure. Peggy will be available to teach private lessons in dance, freestyle, Moves in the Field and basic skills.

Renee Epps

Renee has worked with the Salt City Figure Skating Club, Fulton Figure Skating Club, and has been the director of the Learn to Skate program at the Sunnycrest Rink in Syracuse for several years. This is her 17th year with the Oswego FSC. Renee has passed her 2nd figure, silver dances, & intermediate freestyle. Renee will teach lessons in freestyle, figures, dance and Moves in the Field.

Gary Jones

Gary has been teaching in the Syracuse area for over 20 years, 14 years with the Oswego FSC. As a performing professional he skated with Ice Capades as a principal performer and understudy. Gary partnered such stars as JoJo Starbuck (US Pairs Champion with Ken Shelley) and Dorothy Hamill (US, Olympic and World Ladies Champion). Gary is a longtime member of the Professional Skaters Association (PSA) and has served on its Performing Professionals Committee. Gary will teach private & semi-private lessons in freestyle, figures, moves in the field and low dance. 

Marie Shuman

This is Marie's 12th year teaching with the Oswego FSC. She was Eastern intermediate Ladies silver medalist and New England intermediate Ladies Bronze medalist during her figure skating career. She was a figure skating instructor previously at the Binghamton Figure Skating Club, Lynah Rink at Cornell University and Polar Cap Ice Arena in Chenango Bridge. Marie will be available to teach freestyle, figures and moves-in-the-field. Qualifications include Novice freestyle and 5th figure.

Stacey Cook

Stacey has over 13 years of skating experience and is in her 12th year as a competitive skater. She has won Gold Medals in Moves in the Field, Ice Dance, and Free Skating. She has passed her Novice Free Dance , First Figures, Starlight Waltz and Rhumba in International Dance and the Quick Step in Canadian Gold Dances. Stacey has competed at the Empire State Games since 1998 and at the North Atlantic Regionals since 1995 , where she was a Junior Ladies Finalist in 2001. She majors in Athletic Training at Ithaca College.

Jennifer Moseley-Duvall

Jennifer has been teaching for 8 years and currently teaches in Watertown, Cicero and is the Director for the Salmon River Skating School in Pulaski. She has passed her Junior Freestyle, Senior Moves and Canadian & American Gold Dances, 4th Figure. Jennifer was a silver medallist in Intermediate & Adult Senior Ladies at Empire State Games in Lake Placid and medalled several years at North Atlantics. She is available to teach private lessons in Freestyle, Dance and Moves in the Field.

Jeremy Balcom

Jeremy has been teaching with the Oswego FSC since 2004 and is a member of the Professional Skaters Association. He has earned his Adult Gold Medal in Moves in the Field and is continuing to test his standard track and dance tests. He has medalled each year at Adult Nationals since 2005 including a Silver in 2007. Jeremy teaches with the Basic Skills program and is also available for private lessons in Basic Skills, Freestyle, Moves in the Field, Choreography and Ice Dance.

Jeff Petrie

Jeff is a Dance Instructor and a Dance Partner . His Biography will be available soon.

Mary Kate Dehm
Mary Kate is a member of the Oswego FSC and is in her 10th year working with Basic Skills and 7th year teaching private Basic Skills students. She also teaches full club members in freestyle, dance, and moves in the field. She has her USFSA Gold Medal in Ice Dance and in Moves in the Field, has passed her Juvenile Freestyle and has also achieved her Canadian Gold Medal in Ice Dance. She was a Bronze medalist at the 2001 North Atlantic Championships in Juvenile Ice Dance and was ranked 15th in the United States at the 2001 Junior National Championships. Along with Amanda Anderson, they have formed a basic skills synchronized skating team last year, which they hope to see grow even stronger this year. In addition to teaching, Mary Kate skates competitively with the Oswego State Synchronized Skating Team, where her team placed first at the Eastern Sectional Championships in Richmond, Virginia. Mary Kate is a senior at Oswego State completing her Elementary Education degree in December.

Junior Professional Coaches

A Junior Professional is an Oswego FSC member between 16 and 18 year of age who has volunteered for at least 60 hours in the Basic Skills Program and has been approved by the Board of Directors. Junior Pros may teach Basic Skills private lessons and Full Club members that have moved up from Basic Skills after being taught by the Junior Pro.

Ashley Welsch

Ashley has been a member of the Oswego FSC since 1995. She has volunteered with the Learn to Skate Program for two years and has served as a substitute instructor. Ashley has skated competitively for seven years and has passed her Juvenile Moves and Pre-Bronze Dances. She is available to teach private lessons for Learn to Skate students.
