Professional Staff

The Oswego Figure Skating Club is proud authorize these professionals for teaching on club ice. They represent some of the finest skaters and teachers in Central New York.

All Professionals MUST be authorized by the Board of Directors before teaching on club ice.

Jeremy Balcom

Jeremy has been coaching with the Oswego FSC since 2004. He is a member of the Professional Skaters Association and has earned his Adult Gold Test Medals in Moves in the Field and Freestyle. Jeremy actively skates and competes each spring at the Adult National Championships where he has medalled each year since 2005 including a Gold in Freestyle in 2009. Jeremy teaches private lessons in Basic Skills, Moves in the Field, Freestyle, Ice Dance (including partnering) and Choreography.

Peggy Bateman

Peggy has been with the Oswego FSC since 1991and has been coaching synchronized skating since 1989. She has passed through her silver Dances, juvenile Freestyle, & 1st figure. Peggy is available to teach private lessons in Dance, Freestyle, Moves in the Field and Basic Skills.

Mary-Kate Dehm

Mary Kate is a member of the Oswego FSC and has been working with Basic Skills since 1997. She also teaches full club members in Freestyle, Dance, and Moves in the Field. She has her USFSA Gold Medal in Ice Dance and in Moves in the Field, has passed her Juvenile Freestyle and has also achieved her Canadian Gold Medal in Ice Dance. She was a Bronze medalist at the 2001 North Atlantic Championships in Juvenile Ice Dance and was ranked 15th in the United States at the 2001 Junior National Championships. Along with Amanda Anderson, they have formed a Basic Skills synchronized skating team last year, which they hope to see grow even stronger this year. In addition to teaching, Mary Kate skates competitively with the Oswego State Synchronized Skating Team, where her team placed first at the Eastern Sectional Championships in Richmond, Virginia.

Renee Epps

Renee is in her 26th year of coaching and, in addition to the Oswego Figure Skating Club, coaches at the Camillus Figure Skating, the Cortland Figure Skating Club, and the Skating Club of Centrall New York. She has coached many skaters from the Pre-Preliminary level to the Gold Level In Freestyle, Moves in the Field & Ice Dancing at club, Regional, State, and National competitions. Her students include Numerous Gold Medalists at Local, Regional and State Competitions, the 2002 Empire State Games Intermediate Ladies Gold Medalist, 2002 Empire State Games Senior Ladies Silver Medalist, 2002 Empire State Games Similar Pairs Silver Medalists, 2008 Empire State Games Intermediate Ladies Silver Medalist, and the 2008 Pewter Medalist at the North Atlantic Championships.

Renee is available for coaching at all levels, from Beginner to the Gold Levels of Freestyle, Moves In the Field & Ice Dancing.

Gary Jones

Gary has been teaching in the Syracuse area for over 20 years, and has been with the Oswego FSC since 1993. As a performing professional he skated with Ice Capades as a principal performer and understudy. Gary partnered such stars as JoJo Starbuck (US Pairs Champion with Ken Shelley) and Dorothy Hamill (US, Olympic and World Ladies Champion). Gary is a longtime member of the Professional Skaters Association (PSA) and has served on its Performing Professionals Committee. Gary teaches private & semi-private lessons in Freestyle, Figures, Moves in the Field and low Dance.

 
Junior Professional Staff

A Junior Professional is an Oswego FSC member between 16 and 18 year of age who has volunteered for at least 60 hours in the Basic Skills Program and has been approved by the Board of Directors. Junior Pros may teach Basic Skills private lessons and Full Club members that have moved up from Basic Skills after being taught by the Junior Pro.

Danielle Mather

Danielle has been a member of the Oswego Figure Skating Club since 1998 and has been volunteering with the Learn to Skate Program since 2004-2005 season. She passed her Senior Moves in the Field Test, in June of 2007,passed her Gold Dance Test in March of 2009, passed her Senior Freestyle test in March of 2010, and she also has passed her Candian Gold Dances. She is currently working on her International Dances. She has also competed in many local and regional competitions including Empire State Winter Games, where she has placed as high as fourth place in the final round, North Atlantic Regional Championships, and the Lake Placid Summer Championships. Danielle is available to teach private lessons.
